During 10 days I’ve been in Moscow to participate in preparing the leaders for the sports ministries in their countries. This is a part of International Sports Coalition. Being a graduate of the Sports School from South Africa, I had the privilege to testify about how is the sport used for the sharing the Gospel in Moldova to all the participants.
There were 4 other colleagues of mine who graduated the same school. It was an extraordinary time, and there were many beautiful testimonies about how the Lord is working through sports in people’s life. A very nice example had Ion Druta from Moldova, who presented how he uses Taekwon-Do to share the Gospel in three localities in Moldova, and thus the students encouraged one another by this beautiful testimonies.
I taught from the book "The Proclaiming of the Gospel through Sports" written by the President of "Precept Ministries for Moldova", and also the president of the Taekwon-Do Club "Stolas Leukas" Mr. Vasile Filat. This book was written after the decision made by the members of the International Coalition. This manual had a great success, because it is based on real facts, and on the experience the Christian sportsmen have in proclaiming the Gospel. All the students appreciated it very much and we managed to go through the first 2 lessons. One of the students, Victor Ekimov said "that I had no idea how to start bible study with my students", but after he did the study he said that "by all means I will do this study with my students". Almost all the students said the same thing.
I was very glad to meet my colleague from South Africa, Ivan Bichikov, who does a wonderful work in his country. But most of all I was glad he uses very efficiently the training program written by me and Vasile Filat. This is an unique program of trainings based on the methods of preparing the soccer teams of Holland, Brazil and Great Britain, and it took 1year to make it. I’m very thankful to my teacher Vasile Filat who put a lot of efforts to find these materials. In present, after this program the "Tintasii" soccer club is being trained and also some teams from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. When I met Ivan Bichikov in South Africa, he was encouraged very much by Mr. Vasile Filat to start in his country a soccer team who would train after this program. After many discusses he agreed. We had to work a lot to translate it in Russian, and thank Ivan for helping us with the translation.
Now this program after being translated in Russian by Ivan Bichikov is very successfully used by young soccer teams in Asia. Praised be the Lord that we can use sports in sharing the Gospel in so many countries.
This summer we organize a soccer camp, where along with the trainings we will study the book of "Romans". It is a time where we can get to know better the kids, we can see the potential leaders. And I’d like you to pray for:
- a nice weather
- tents
- balls
- money for the kids that cannot afford to pay for themselves
