Yesterday, July 2nd, we met the 175 students at our English for a New Life Camp. Most of them came from different localities of Moldova, but we have also students from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
Elena Harjeieva came from the city of Ulan-Ude, Bureatia, near Baikal lake. It takes 6 days by train to come from there to Moldova just in one direction. Elena came last year with other two of her girls, friends of her. I remember how the last day, before leaving, they said that if they will come just only for one day at this camp, it was worth the effort, time and investment to come and spend 12 days only on the train to be at that camp. I was curious to ask Elena what
was her motivation to make all this effort again and come this year. This is her answer: “At the last year camp, one day, you asked us to write 10 specific purposes I want to accomplish for my entire life and after that you taut us how to insist for making them real and do our part. One of my purposes for life was to make one same camp in my city together with my friends. I went home and making a team with other leaders, we planned to make it for 40 teenagers. Just in one week signed for these camp more than 50 and it was great, we studied the course “The truth about sex” and many lives were changed as a result. Another purpose I had was to start a bible study group and teach people how to study the bible inductively. Now, before coming to this camp, I had 3 bible groups with a total of 20 students. Isn’t this a result? The same happened with all the other purposes I set in front of me and my English was improved considerably. I came to this camp to enlarge my vision for life and to set up new purposes.” I asked Elena if she is not thinking about starting the same English for a New Life school in her city. She was surprised about idea and said that it is a great challenge for her and have to think about it.
Today, in the morning, we celebrated the birthday of Randall Nelson who turned 58, but is full of energy and passion to serve others in the Gospel. Before we did sing him “Happy Birthday!”, I asked his wife Tamara to tell us what it was for her to be married to Randall Nelson. She gave such a testimony and said: “This men of God was a virgin when he asked me to marry him and he never was dating another lady. From the day of our wedding, there was no one day when he will not tell that loves me and show me his affection. I am very blessed and happy to be the wife of Randall Nelson.” This testimony impressed all of us.
Now, all the students are studying in small groups, making all the efforts to learn English, computers and most of all, the Word of God.
After the camp we are going to do a seminar for the best students of this camp who want to become in the future teachers at English for a New Life School. Pray for this camp, for the students, the teachers and for the training seminar we are going to have immediately after the camp.
