About the seriousness of the sin committed by omission

I was shocked when I watched the running commentary about the accident in which two policemen were hit this week. As a result of the extremely strong hit, and because their seat belts were not fastened, the policemen flew out of the car on the road. The thing that horrified me most was that the first people who saw them, did not stop to offer any help and the micro-bus driver who happened to be the first to see the accident, did not stop to give the first aid, but he almost went over one of these policemen and departed. It is terrible what happened.

Watching this running commentary, I remembered about the biblical passage that says:

Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. (James 4:17)(NASB)

Why have people acted this way? I want to write one more article, where I will try to do an analysis of the causes why the micro-bus driver and the man who passed by then acted that way.

By the way, here is how a dog acted in a similar case.
