Use your cellphone to spread the Gospel

A young woman asked me the following question at the dispute about homosexuality from ULIM (Free International University of Moldova): “Why is Christianity such a poor religion compared to all other religions of the world, such as Islam, Buddhism, etc?” The young woman ment, why Christianity doesn’t have such an influence upon the society as the other religions of the world do. There are more reasons and it would be a good subject for an article in future. The Lord Jesus gave the commandment to the apostles and to us, all Christians, to go and make disciples of all the nations, teaching them to observe all that He had commanded us. In view of this, it is very important to use all new technologies that appear. All things have to be used to spread the Gospel. One of this techology is the cellphone, that is used in our daily life by almost every young and mature person, especially in big towns. More than this, our son that is in the third grade, says that all his classmates have cellphones. In this article I want to give some advice to Christians how to use the cellphone to spread the Gospel.

Set the sound (alarm)

Now all young people compete for the melody they use as a sound signal when they receive a message or a call. Some use very nice melodies, others use the sounds that some animals utter and others set the laugh of a person, etc. I have recorded my own voice reading the following verse from the Bible:

Jesus Christ said: “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (the Gospel of Matthew 11:29–30)(NASB)

Every time I am in a public place or near a person, when the phone rings, people that are close to  me hear this verse and it is impossible to say that it doesn’t bear influence upon them, because God also said:

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10–11)(NASB)

Choose the biblical verse

When you choose the biblical verse, think at the problems and circumstances of the people that are around you, even try to think at specific situations from their life. For example, if you are a student and you have a winter session now, it is good to record a verse that speaks about anxiety, as this one says:

Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (the Gospel of Matthew 6:31–34)(NASB)

When your friends will hear this message before the exams or during the exams, they will appreciate and will pay attention to the words of our Lord.

Change the biblical verse periodically

It is good to change the verse weekly, according to the circumstances you are in. Don’t forget that each of us spends a certain period of time with the same group of people. If you are a student you spend the most of your time with your groupmates. If you work – with the people that work with you. If you let the same verse for a longer period of time, people will not pay attention to it anymore. That’s why, change the biblical verse periodically, so that the Word of God may always be fresh and according to people’s needs. It is good to change the biblical verse weekly.

Use a pleasant musical background

Music has its magic effect and it touches every soul. That’s why, it is good to use a musical background for the verse you record, but if you don’t know how to do this, don’t worry too much. The message is more important. If you think that someone from your class or from your friends has a more pleasing voice than yours ask that person to record her/his voice telling the verse. It is a good effect when you record verses read nicely by children.

Be ready to explain the biblical verse

It is not necessary to prepare a sermon, but be ready to give an answer when people will be interested in the truth they have heard from the verse on your phone and explain the Word of God, as it is written:

Always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. (1 Peter 3:15–16)(NASB)

Treasure the Word of God in your heart

Having recorded a new biblical verse on your phone weekly and hearing the same verse for more times, it will be a great advantage for you, because you will learn very well all these verses and in this way, you will treasure the Word of God in your heart.

Help your Christian friends to set their phone

If you have understood how good and efficient the cellphone can be used to spread the Gospel, help your friends too. Tell them about this efficient method, that is available for everyone and help them to set their cellphones. Only when your Christian friends will see this, they will be motivated to do the same. Try only to imagine how intensively the Word of God will be spread, when the cellphones of all Christians will spread the truth of the Bible, and they will be ready to answer to all people, to explain the verses, and to live purely and respectfully. May God help us to do this.

Come again tomorrow on this portal, because I am going to write an article to advise you how to organize your time, so that you will manage to do all things and to live your life at the best possible quality. Don’t forget that time is the stuff our life is made of.
